intro header

Partick is a residential area on the north bank of the River Clyde to the west of the city of Glasgow. From1852, it was a burgh in its own right before being absorbed into Glasgow in 1912. For the most part it is comprised of medium density tenement housing and covers an area from the River Kelvin in the East to Whiteinch in the West.

Ecumenically, Partick was at one time awash with churches. However, a number have closed over the years but there is still a broad spectrum of religious life of which the Congregational Church has been a part since 1891.

Universities

Partick is within easy walking distance of Glasgow University. Strathclyde and the Caledonian University are but a bus ride away.

Hospitals

Partick is only a matter of half a mile from the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and has the Western Infirmary at its Eastern end.

Transport Links

Partick has its own Railway Station, two Underground Stations and good bus links to all parts of the city and beyond.
